Past - for the archivist - the collector of good times

Created by performance and theatre artist Mengting Zhuo. Past is for the moments that live on in memory. The feeling of gentle nostalgia but not for any particular place or person. This is looking back but never with regret.

This is a gently smoky eau de parfum. Like a half-remembered, lingering dream.

Comes to mind first as citrusy woods weathered by time.

Then the memory gets more clear as sun-warmed amber.
It crystallises with traces of earthiness and moss.

What Is a Smoky Perfume?

A smoky perfume evokes fire, incense, burning woods, or smouldering embers. These scents are associated with warmth, depth, and atmosphere.

In perfumery, smokiness is created using woods, resins, incense, and aromatic materials. Past belongs to this world, but remains refined and wearable.

A Gentle Opening: Orange, Violet & Green Leaf

Past opens with subtle brightness. Orange adds a soft citrus lift, violet brings a powdery floral nuance, and green leaf introduces a fresh, slightly bitter edge.

This moment feels natural and restrained — a quiet opening before the deeper notes emerge.

Jasmine in Perfume: Soft, Floral Balance

At the heart is jasmine, adding warmth, elegance, and softness. In Past, it remains airy and controlled, paired with muguet for freshness and basil for a gentle herbal edge.

This balance prevents the fragrance from becoming too dark or heavy.

Woods, Smoke, and Memory

The base is grounded in cedarwood — dry, clean, and softly resinous. Cypress adds a green sharpness, while moss introduces an earthy, forest-like depth.

The smoke is subtle: more like incense in the air or the final traces of a fire than anything overpowering.

Smoky Scents Without Heaviness

Past takes a lighter approach to smoky fragrance. The smoke is woven into the woods rather than dominating them.

Hints of amber and soft earthy tones create a composition that feels elegant, modern, and quietly powerful.

Smoke, Woods & the Skin

On skin, the fragrance evolves slowly, revealing layers of woods, amber, and soft florals. It sits close, ideal for those who prefer intimacy over projection.

What Does Wood Perfume Smell Like?

Wood-based fragrances can feel dry, earthy, resinous, or smoky. In Past, woods are softened by florals and green notes, creating balance and wearability.

A Modern Take on Smoky Fragrance

Past offers a restrained, contemporary interpretation of smoky perfume — elegant, understated, and emotionally resonant.
